Narrowing the gap
July 9th 2021
Former President Mauricio Macri joined Vice-President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in her Recoleta apartment to agree on new ground rules for Argentina to come. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to downgrade confrontation and grow a sense of unity that would help to get the country back on its feet. Avoid unnecessary economic damage, assist relegated populations and strengthen institutional power are some of the main issues upon discussion.

"Junto por el Cambio party and I will cooperate as much as needed with the actual administration to get the country running again and make a 20-year rally of positive growth whoever is in power. We believe that Frente de Todos and Cristina have the same objective as us. We can argue about optics or priorities but the core is the same. We both love our country." - said Mauricio Macri

"We may look antagonist on the outside but Mauricio and I share more than people think. A new era has come. Juntos por el cambio party and its supporters won't go away, neither do we. That's why fighting is not the way. We need to embrace other views and collaborate to reach mutual understandings." - declared Cristina Fernandez.

Since this summit, both party's coalitions started working towards new bipartisan laws that would help the country recover from its crisis. Currency stability without leaving people behind is the statement. Parlament members declared, off the record, that everyone is doing their best to lean towards the center spectrum and get things going.

Experts agree that this political gesture will bring social heat down and create more constructive conversations at every level of the population.

"The next 20 years are not about Macrism or Kirchenrisim, Left or Right, Poor or Rich, Workers and CEOs, it's about growth and new opportunities for everyone no matter their political color." - stated the memorandum both leaders wrote.
